Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to your data when you use GuitarOS. The short version: there is no account, no server-side database, and nothing about your practice history ever leaves your device unless you choose to click through to a third-party site.

1. What GuitarOS stores, and where

GuitarOS is a static, client-side web app. It has no backend server and no user accounts. Your practice profile — your instrument, skill level, favorite genres, streak, favorited songs, and practice history — is saved only in your browser's local storage on the device you're using. It is never transmitted to us, because we have nowhere to send it: there is no server receiving it. Clearing your browser's site data, using a different browser, or switching devices will reset your progress, since nothing is synced anywhere.

2. Embedded YouTube videos

Lesson videos are embedded directly from YouTube. When you play one, YouTube (operated by Google LLC) may set its own cookies and collect data according to its own privacy policy, independent of anything GuitarOS controls. You can review Google's Privacy Policy for details on what YouTube collects and how it's used.

3. Third-party links

Some lessons link out to Ultimate Guitar and Songsterr for tab notation. These are independent websites with their own privacy policies and practices, which we don't control and aren't responsible for. We'd encourage you to review their policies before creating an account or making a purchase on either site.

4. Advertising

GuitarOS may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone's prior visits to this website or other websites.

What we don't do: we don't run analytics that identify you personally, we don't sell data (we don't have any to sell), we don't require sign-up, and we don't track you across other sites ourselves. Anything beyond that is the behavior of the third-party embeds and links described above, governed by their own policies.

5. Children's privacy

GuitarOS is a general-audience site and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since no personal data is collected by GuitarOS itself, there's nothing to request the deletion of on our end — though see the sections above regarding YouTube and Google AdSense, whose own policies apply independently.

6. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Continued use of GuitarOS after changes means you accept the revised policy.

7. Contact
